Hockey is an integral part of life in rural Saskatchewan and one trip to the Watrous Centennial Arena would prove that.

The Watrous Centennial boasts an artificial ice surface which produces some of the best ice in all of Saskatchewan. With new individual seating, the arena can seat up to 400 people in addition to standing room circling the ice surface.

The Watrous Centennial Arena hosts minor hockey teams of all age groups, a Rec hockey league, Learn to Skate and Figure Skating programs as well as the Senior Winterhawks who play in the Long Lake Hockey League.

The Watrous Centennial Arena is home to the Kinsmen Room, which overlooks the ice surface with a fully functional bar and televisions for your viewing pleasure.

If you find yourself at the Watrous Centennial Arena, be sure to stop by the Minor Hockey kitchen for some world famous hot chocolate.

If you or your business are interested in renting the Kinsmen room, the ice surface or the facility, please call the Recreation Office @ 306-946-3369

Winterhawk Senior Hockey

The Watrous Winterhawks senior men’s hockey team is a member of the very competitive Long Lake Hockey League. Over the years the number and location of teams have changed but for the last decade the Winterhawks have battled the Davidson Cyclones, Drake Canucks, Lanigan Pirates, LeRoy Braves and Nokomis Chiefs for top spot in the LLHL.

A number of notable players have donned the Winterhawks uniform and individual and team awards have claimed space in the Watrous Centennial Arena’s trophy cabinet. The Winterhawks also participate in provincials and have a number of banners hanging from the arena rafters.

For further information & schedules, visit the Long Lake Hockey League Website. See also the Facebook page at: facebook.com/Watrous-Winterhawks-302774730533498.

Learn to Skate

The Learn to Skate Program is an opportunity for children (age 3 and up) to experience skating and being on the ice without the stresses of joining a minor hockey team. The skaters are placed in levels according to their skating skill. Each level has a coach (and younger or larger levels have volunteers as well) who teaches new skills in a fun and safe way. Registrants are “tested” several times through out the season and will receive a ribbon when they pass their level and proceed into the following group. Our coaches demonstrate a love of skating and foster an environment where kids can grow in their skating skills as well as their appreciation for on-ice sport and exercise. For more information on joining the Learn to Skate program, please contact the Rec Office.
